This is a Seeder used for corn or peas the turn of the century. Estimated Retail Value $38 and sometimes these go higher if there is a name printed on the side.  To use you would push into the ground and a seed would be released.  This sounds easy - but after a whole day this was hard work (a main reason I became a cook as a young man instead of a farmer).  Today, all seeding is done by a machine but in the old days on a small farm – this is what you would use.  I know these were used on the farms around Gloucester.  Has anyone ever seen one of these being used in Gloucester or have an interesting story - Give us a call at Holly Hill Farm Antiques 695-1146 or call the comments line at GLO-Clips.
