Back on the Farm – What is it?

This is an Graniteware Jar Filler from the early 1900s. Estimated Retail Value $15 - $35.  Our price is $22.

This works like a funnel and is often used to fill jars when doing the summer canning.  Graniteware is an enameled tin ware that has been used in the kitchen from the late nineteenth century to the present. Earlier graniteware was green or turquoise blue, with white spatters. The later ware was gray with white spatters. Reproductions are being made in all colors.Years ago most farm family would jar their food in order to preserve it.  It was hard work and I understand very few people do it today. Much easier now to just by a can of peas for 35 cents.
